Up And Coming MN Telecom Provider Offers New
Approach
|
Name Change, Indirect Sales Focus and the Addition of Industry Veteran Tim
Devine for CP Telecom |
Minneapolis – September 22, 2005 – CP Internet, provider of local, long distance, Internet and web hosting services announced it has adopted a new business approach and changed its name to CP Telecom to better reflect its strengthened focus on telecommunications solutions. CP Telecom began offering telecom services in 2003 and has seen its telecom-related revenue increase over 200% from July 2004 to July 2005. |
| CP Telecom has implemented an indirect sales channel for CP Telecom service, and more than 100 specially trained sales agents are now selling the service throughout the state of Minnesota. This sales approach targets small and midsize businesses and allows the company to focus its sales support solely with its agents. In addition, the company has brought onboard industry veteran, Tim Devine, as the company’s new President & COO. |
| “CP Telecom is here to reignite the telecom competitive landscape in our region. We will do so by taking advantage of smart technology and bringing back a level of customer commitment that quite frankly has suffered as the current group of service providers has been battered by having to deal with turbulent industry times resulting from the economics associated with the dot.com bubble,” said CP Telecom’s Founder and CEO, Chad Braafladt. “Tim Devine provides our company with a great base of knowledge and insights that will offer our company an accelerated growth path into providing and servicing our customers,” said Braafladt. |
| Devine founded one of Minnesota’s most successful telecommunications start-ups - Ovation Communications between 1997 and 1999, and built one of the first fiber optic networks constructed in the Twin Cities. Ovation was later sold for over $400 million to McLeodUSA. Along with Devine, a number of other key personnel from Ovation Communications have joined the company in sales, customer service and network engineering and operations roles. |
| “Businesses increasingly are benefiting from productivity gains with the integration of voice and data services, but the sales environment, including years of sales pitches for long distance and local calling plans have worn people out and clouded credibility,” Devine said. “We believe we gain a significant advantage by working with independent sales representatives who present our product to businesses where we offer an excellent value,” he continued. Braafladt, the company’s CEO and former president will intensify the company’s long-term strategic direction and integration of new services and technologies. |
| “Our company has undergone significant changes in the past year and this name change represents those developments,” said CEO Braafladt. “We are focused on reigniting the telecom competitive landscape in our region by taking advantage of smart technology and offering a level of customer commitment that has been ignored by other service providers.” |
| “We have found CP Telecom’s approach refreshing,” said Jon Foster, Fostar Telecommunications President. As independent agents, our ability to work with our customers in finding the right solution for their business need is critical.” Fostar Telecommunications is one of the Twin Cities leading Sales Agent organizations and represents over six different service providers. |
| CP Telecom will continue to offer its online services including dial-up and high speed DSL Internet access along with web hosting. The privately held, Duluth-based company which grew to be the largest privately-held Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Minnesota, began its move from Internet provider to competitive local exchange carrier in 2002 when it gained Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) status from the MN PUC. |
